London, RakyatNTT.ID European stocks recorded their best weekly performance, fueled by strong rallies in the healthcare and mining sectors.

The benchmark Stoxx 600 index closed 0.5% higher, notching a new record high for the third consecutive session, and finished the week with a 2.8% gain.

Healthcare Leads the Rally

Healthcare stocks were the top performers, rising 1.3%. Gains were led by AstraZeneca (+1.6%) and Novo Nordisk (+2.1%), following a U.S. pricing agreement on Pfizer’s drugs that helped ease regulatory uncertainty.

Banks and Miners Also Advance

The banking sector climbed 1%, with Raiffeisen soaring 7.4% after reports from the Financial Times indicated the EU may lift sanctions on assets linked to Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska in a compensation deal for the Austrian bank. Meanwhile, ABN Amro shares gained 2.7% after Goldman Sachs upgraded the Dutch lender from “sell” to “buy.”

Basic resources stocks, which include Europe’s leading mining companies, advanced 1.7% as base metal prices climbed.

Eurozone Service Sector Strengthens

Adding to the positive sentiment, Eurozone service sector growth edged higher in September, reaching an eight-month peak. Germany’s services industry also recorded its fastest expansion in eight months, signaling resilience in Europe’s largest economy. (*/rnc)
